Buffalo, New York – Fall begins Tuesday with a high near 65 degrees in Buffalo before a steady warming trend pushes temperatures toward 70 this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a few spotty light showers or sprinkles are possible Tuesday and Tuesday night across the Southern Tier. Otherwise, the region should remain dry during the coming week.
Buffalo is expected to reach 65 degrees Tuesday before dropping to 47 overnight. Wednesday brings a high near 65 and a low around 48, followed by a high of 67 Thursday and 45 Thursday night.
The first several nights of astronomical fall will feel considerably cooler south and east of Buffalo. Jamestown falls to around 46 Tuesday night and 45 Wednesday night, while Olean reaches about 44 Tuesday night and 42 Wednesday night.
Watertown could be even colder, with lows around 41 Tuesday night and 40 Wednesday night. Lowville is expected to drop to about 38 Tuesday night and 39 Wednesday night.
No freezing temperatures are shown in the seven day outlook, and the Weather Service information does not indicate snow during the period.
Instead, temperatures will gradually climb as the week progresses. Buffalo reaches about 68 degrees Friday and 69 Saturday before highs rise into the lower 70s early next week. Similar warming is expected across much of western and north central New York.
Temperatures should return to near normal levels by Saturday. After the possibility of a few light showers or sprinkles across the Southern Tier Tuesday and Tuesday night, predominantly dry weather will accompany the gradual warmup through the weekend.
