Weld County, CO – A 10 year old girl was hospitalized after being shot by a 14 year old male relative Tuesday afternoon near Erie, prompting an active investigation by the Weld County Sheriff 's Office.
According to the Weld County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday to a reported shooting at a residence in the 2200 block of Weld County Road 10.
Investigators Identify Two Juveniles Involved During the investigation, deputies learned that a 14 year old boy had shot a 10 year old female relative.
Authorities confirmed the girl was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday that the girl's condition was stable.
Investigators have not released information about the severity of her injuries or whether she is expected to make a full recovery.
The shooting occurred near the town of Erie, a community along Colorado's northern Front Range, northeast of the Denver metropolitan area.
