Baytown Township, MN – An 11 year old boy was critically injured Tuesday morning after authorities say a motor vehicle struck the electric scooter he was riding at an intersection in Washington County.
According to the Washington County Sheriff ’s Office, its Emergency Communications and Response Center received a 911 call at approximately 8:16 a.m. Tuesday reporting the collision at 40th Street North and Paradise Avenue North in Baytown Township, east of the Twin Cities metro area.
First responders arrived and immediately began administering CPR to the child, the sheriff’s office said. He was transported to Regions Hospital in critical condition.
Authorities initially reported that the boy was 15 years old. The sheriff’s office later issued a correction confirming that the victim is 11.
The circumstances leading up to the collision were not immediately detailed in the sheriff’s office release. Authorities also did not identify the child or provide additional information about the vehicle or driver involved.
The Minnesota State Patrol was requested to assist with crash reconstruction as investigators work to determine what happened.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol continue to investigate the crash. No information about possible citations or charges was announced in Tuesday afternoon’s update.
