City, State Hayward Industries is recalling Universal pool heaters because they can produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide during operation, creating a risk of serious injury or death. The recall was announced Sept. 17, 2026.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, affected heaters may expose people nearby to carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless gas that can cause poisoning. Consumers who operate the heaters should stop using them immediately.
