St. Louis County, MO – A former St. Louis County police officer has been charged after investigators alleged he received more than $25,000 from Schnucks Markets for security work he did not perform.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department , the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued a charge Monday, Sept. 28, against 29 year old Derrick Williams of Florissant for stealing $25,000 or more involving a teller machine or its contents.
Williams worked as a St. Louis County police officer while also holding a secondary job as a security guard for Schnucks Markets, according to the probable cause statement released by police.
Authorities allege that between January and August 2026, Williams submitted multiple false timesheets to Schnucks showing he had worked security shifts and was paid for that time.
Schnucks security officials reportedly noticed payroll concerns and began investigating before referring the matter to St. Louis County police.
Detectives allege that on numerous dates Williams claimed to be working security at Schnucks, he was actually working as a police officer. Investigators also alleged there were other instances when he was not working at the store despite claiming those hours.
Police said Schnucks' total alleged loss exceeded $25,000.
Williams was arrested by St. Louis County police and taken into custody without incident. According to the department, his employment with St. Louis County police ran from Jan. 4, 2017, through Sept. 18, 2026.
The department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is leading the investigation.
The charge is an accusation. Williams is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
