St. Louis County, MO – Two children have died and a third remains in critical condition following a devastating house fire Friday night, October 9, in northern St. Louis County, prompting an active investigation into what caused the deadly blaze.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department , officers from the North County Precinct responded at approximately 8:11 p.m. Friday to assist the Black Jack Fire Protection District with a residential fire in the 15600 block of 94th Avenue.
When first responders arrived, they discovered three juvenile victims inside the burning home and immediately began administering lifesaving treatment.
Two Children Die, Third Critically Injured Authorities reported that two of the children were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Despite emergency medical efforts, both children succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead.
A third juvenile victim was also transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries and remained in critical condition at the time of the police announcement.
A fourth victim received treatment for smoke inhalation.
Police have not released the identities or ages of the children, and additional information about the fourth victim was not provided.
Investigation Into Deadly Fire Continues Detectives with the St. Louis County Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons and the St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit are investigating the incident.
Officials emphasized that the cause of the fire has not been determined.
The involvement of specialized investigators does not establish that the fire was intentionally set.
Authorities described the investigation as active and cautioned that preliminary details could change as additional evidence becomes available.
