Seminole County, FL Cameras Shut Down as Removal Continues

Sanford, FL – Drivers across Seminole County may still see Flock cameras along local roads, but the sheriff's office says its entire network has been shut down and is no longer collecting or sharing new data.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Dennis Lemma and Seminole County Commission Chairman Andria Herr announced Aug. 31 that the agency was suspending its use of the Flock camera network. The sheriff's office formally notified Flock of the decision Sept. 1 and directed the company to deactivate the network and begin removing cameras deployed for the agency.
Officials said equipment located along state roadways has since been removed. Work is continuing to take down cameras positioned along county roads throughout Seminole County, part of the Orlando metropolitan area.
The sheriff's office issued the update to address questions from residents who may notice cameras still physically installed along roadways.
Despite some equipment remaining in place, officials emphasized that all cameras associated with the sheriff's office have been placed in a non-operational status. The agency said those cameras are no longer collecting or sharing new data.
Under the sheriff's office's contract, Flock is responsible for physically removing the equipment. Sheriff's office personnel have offered assistance to help speed up that process, according to the agency.
Officials said they remain in contact with Flock and will continue working with the company to expedite removal of the remaining cameras.
The update provides a distinction for motorists and residents: A camera still visible along a Seminole County road does not necessarily mean it remains active as part of the sheriff's office network.
