Rockingham County Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Charges

Madison, NC – Two individuals are facing felony charges after a routine traffic stop on Highway 220 led to the discovery of illegal narcotics on September 20, 2026. The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred while a deputy was conducting patrols in the area.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, Deputy C. Pyrtle initiated a traffic stop due to observed violations and suspicious activity. A subsequent investigation of the vehicle allegedly uncovered illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia, resulting in the arrest of the vehicle's occupants.

Larry Sapp, 33, of Walkertown, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, identified as methamphetamine. He was transported to the Rockingham County Magistrates Office, where he was issued a $5,000 secured bond and remanded to the Rockingham County Detention Facility.

Also arrested was 34-year-old Kendal Rock-Vanier of Winston-Salem, who faces similar felony charges for possession of methamphetamine. She was issued a $2,500 secured bond and is also currently held at the detention facility pending a future court date.

A third individual, 32-year-old Elizabeth Duncan, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the stop. Sheriff Billy Parker praised the efforts of Deputy Pyrtle, highlighting the department's ongoing commitment to proactive patrols aimed at removing illegal narcotics from the community.

The Sheriff also expressed appreciation for the professional assistance provided by the Madison Police Department, as well as the Rockingham County 911 Communications center and its telecommunicators during the operation. The suspects remain in custody as the investigation proceeds.
