Davenport, IA – An unusually mild October weekend is expected across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois, with temperatures climbing into the 80s Saturday, Oct. 10, before another warm and dry day Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, dry conditions will prevail throughout the weekend, although breezy weather could develop Saturday across portions of eastern Iowa.
Saturday afternoon temperatures are expected to reach the lower to middle 80s across the forecast area, providing an unseasonably warm start to the weekend.
Wind gusts could reach 25 to 30 mph in parts of eastern Iowa Saturday, making it the breezier of the two weekend days. The strongest gusts are not forecast uniformly across the region.
The warm weather follows a mild Friday night, when overnight temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Saturday night will bring cooler conditions, with temperatures dropping into the middle to upper 50s.
By Sunday, Oct. 11, afternoon highs are expected to range from the upper 70s to lower 80s, keeping temperatures above typical early October levels.
Sunday night temperatures are forecast to settle into the lower to middle 60s.
The dry weekend outlook applies to the Quad Cities region, including Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa and Moline and Rock Island in Illinois, along with surrounding communities.
Unlike areas farther south and east experiencing tropical rainfall threats this weekend, the Quad Cities forecast calls for dry weather and unseasonably mild temperatures.
The National Weather Service has not identified a significant precipitation threat in its weekend outlook for the region.
Residents planning outdoor activities should expect warm afternoons, mild evenings and occasional breezy conditions Saturday, especially in eastern Iowa.
Warm, dry weather is expected to continue through Sunday, with afternoon temperatures remaining near or above 80 degrees in many locations.
