Quad Cities, IA/IL – Heavy rainfall moved through the Quad Cities region over the last 48 hours, with some areas reporting significant accumulation between September 15 and September 16, 2026. The National Weather Service reports that two specific zones experienced intense downpours with totals ranging from 2 to 3 inches, and localized amounts exceeding 3 inches.
According to the US National Weather Service, the heaviest precipitation was observed roughly along Interstate 80 and south of Highway 34. Memphis, Missouri, recorded the highest total in the provided data at 3.13 inches, followed by Belle Plaine, Iowa, at 2.88 inches. Other notable totals included 2.57 inches in Williamsburg, Iowa, and 2.41 inches in Hayesville, Iowa.
Data collected through 7 a.m. on Wednesday shows that while some climate sites, such as the Davenport Airport, recorded only 1.05 inches, the widespread nature of the storm impacted many communities significantly. Meteorologists indicate that more rainfall is expected in the coming days, prompting continued concern for the region's moisture levels.
