Porter County, IN – Residents across storm affected portions of Porter County are receiving updated debris collection schedules this week as cleanup continues nearly three months after a powerful August storm left damaged trees and vegetation throughout northwest Indiana.
The latest update identifies neighborhoods scheduled for collection this week and next, giving homeowners additional guidance on when to prepare roadside debris.
According to the Porter County Emergency Management Agency, Indiana's debris removal contractors have been operating north of Division Road for the past three weeks in coordination with county officials following the Aug. 11, 2026, storm.
Initial operations focused primarily on cutting and removing damaged trees and limbs before expanding into scheduled debris collection.
Storm debris collection scheduled for this week, Nov. 2 8, includes:
Zones 2G, 2I, 1B4A, 1B4C, 1E and 1D.
Next week's anticipated collection areas, Nov. 9 15, include:
Zones 2A and 2K, zones 1B4E and other areas requiring a second pass, along with zones 1C and 1B.
The designated work zones cover portions of Liberty, Jackson, Westchester, Pines, Portage, Union, Center and Washington townships.
Officials encourage residents to consult the county's published collection maps to identify their specific zones.
Residents must follow debris placement requirements to qualify for collection.
Storm related vegetative debris should be placed within the public right of way. Material remaining on private property cannot be collected under the program's federal reimbursement requirements.
Multiple rounds of pickup are planned, although collection schedules may change as contractors progress.
For locations south of Division Road, vegetative debris within the roadway right of way will be collected by Porter County Highway Department crews.
Residents needing additional information or wishing to report locations requiring pickup can contact Porter County at 219 465 3570 or StormRecovery2026@portercountyin.gov .
Officials will continue providing schedule updates through county communication channels as cleanup operations progress.
