Orange County, Florida – The Orange County Sheriff 's Office is reminding residents that mental health support and resources are readily available for those struggling with emotional distress. In alignment with national efforts to raise awareness, the department is highlighting the importance of recognizing the warning signs of a mental health crisis.
Officials state that individuals do not need to be experiencing suicidal thoughts to reach out for assistance. The National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be contacted by calling or texting 988. Additionally, support, text, and chat services are available at 988lifeline.org .
The department encourages the public to look out for common behavioral shifts, including increased substance use, withdrawal from friends and family, and expressions of hopelessness or extreme emotional pain. Recognizing these indicators can be a critical step in providing support and guiding someone toward the professional care they may need.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office reiterated that anyone experiencing an emergency mental health crisis should call 911 immediately. By fostering an open dialogue about mental health, local authorities hope to ensure that residents know they are not alone and that professional assistance is always within reach.
