Omaha, NE – Eastern Nebraska is moving through early October without an immediate frost threat, as sunny days in the 70s and increasingly mild nights dominate the forecast through Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, plenty of sunshine and comfortable, mostly dry weather are expected across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa this week.
Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs from 70 to 74 degrees. Overnight lows will fall to 47 to 50, providing a cool fall morning but remaining well above freezing.
For residents still waiting on their first frost of the season, the forecast only gets warmer from there. Monday will reach 70 to 73 with breezy conditions, while nighttime temperatures rise to 55 to 58.
Tuesday is expected to be the warmest day of the period, with mostly sunny skies and highs from 76 to 80 degrees. Lows Tuesday night remain in the upper 50s.
The mild pattern continues Wednesday through Friday. Highs are forecast at 72 to 76 Wednesday, 71 to 77 Thursday and 72 to 77 Friday. Overnight lows remain in the middle 50s to lower 60s.
No frost or freeze is indicated in the six day NWS outlook. While October brings an increasing seasonal chance for colder nights across Nebraska, residents should not interpret typical frost timing as a specific forecast.
One ongoing hazard remains in southeastern Nebraska, where river flood warnings continue along the Big Blue River and Turkey Creek.
For Omaha and eastern Nebraska, expect a cool Sunday night followed by warmer mornings, abundant sunshine and highs mainly in the 70s through Friday, with no first frost signal in the current forecast.
