The National Weather Service NWS Weather Prediction Center has issued a significant warning regarding hazardous heat conditions expected to impact portions of the southern Plains, Texas, and the lower Mississippi Valley. The elevated risk is forecasted to begin on Friday, September 11, 2026, and continue through Sunday, September 13, 2026.
According to the latest NWS projections, many residents will face major to extreme HeatRisk levels during this period. The maps indicate that urban centers including Dallas, Houston, and Oklahoma City are likely to experience the most intense temperatures, with extreme risk levels designated for large swaths of the region.
