Fort Wayne, IN – Increasing clouds and unusually warm temperatures will give way to rain chances across northern Indiana this weekend as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move into the Ohio River Valley, with the greatest potential for rainfall arriving late Saturday, Oct. 10, through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, rain chances will be highest along and east of Interstate 69, while temperatures remain above normal across the region.
Saturday will bring partly cloudy skies and afternoon highs ranging from 76 to 81 degrees. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the 50s before rain chances increase Saturday night.
By early Sunday, precipitation probabilities could reach 70% around Fort Wayne, with higher chances in some communities farther south and east.
The weather service's hourly precipitation outlook shows rain probabilities reaching approximately 85% around Defiance, Ohio, and as high as 95% near Portland, Indiana, during the early Sunday morning period.
Other communities, including Angola, Auburn and Warsaw, could experience increasing rain chances overnight, although probabilities vary considerably by location.
Sunday will bring cooler afternoon temperatures, with highs ranging from 66 to 73 degrees as clouds and periods of rain affect portions of the region.
Despite the approaching tropical remnants, the forecast does not indicate that every community will receive the same amount of rainfall.
Areas west of Interstate 69 generally have lower precipitation probabilities than locations farther east, according to the weather service's Friday afternoon outlook.
By Monday, temperatures are expected to rebound into the 75 to 83 degree range, with partly cloudy conditions forecast.
Residents across northeastern Indiana should monitor updated forecasts as the remnants of Isaias approach the Ohio River Valley.
The most likely period for rainfall remains late Saturday night into the first half of Sunday, particularly along and east of Interstate 69.
