North Riverside, IL – A swift response by the North Riverside Police Department on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, led to the detention of three suspects following a report of a residential burglary. The incident began around 12:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Forestview Drive and 10th Avenue.
According to Chief of Police Chris Boenzi, officers responded to a report of four male subjects inside a silver vehicle parked on Forestview Drive. Three of the individuals reportedly exited the car wearing masks and were believed to be involved in a local burglary. Officers immediately detained the driver, while the three remaining subjects fled on foot into the surrounding neighborhood.
Following a coordinated foot pursuit, authorities apprehended two of the fleeing individuals. An extensive search for the final subject was initiated with the assistance of neighboring agencies, police drones, and a canine unit from the Cook County Sheriff ’s Office. As a precautionary measure, Komarek School was placed on a soft lockdown due to its proximity to the search area.
Officials stated that the third subject is believed to have left the area, and there is no ongoing threat to the community. Officers successfully recovered property that is believed to have been taken during the burglary. The investigation remains active, and police have thanked the public and neighboring departments for their cooperation during the incident.
