New Castle, DE – A Wilmington woman faces felony firearm and related charges after allegedly retrieving a handgun from her vehicle and firing multiple shots at a person outside a New Castle sports bar early Sunday, Delaware State Police said.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded at approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday to a sports bar in the 3800 block of North DuPont Highway following reports of shots fired.
Troopers found spent shell casings near the building, and victims identified 37 year old Tiffany Morales as the alleged shooter, police said. Troopers located Morales and took her into custody without incident.
Investigators said the confrontation began after Morales allegedly dropped her purse while involved in a physical altercation with an unrelated person. The victims picked up the purse and returned it to Morales, according to police.
Morales then allegedly accused them of stealing it.
Police said Morales went to her vehicle, retrieved a handgun and allegedly pointed it at one of the victims before firing multiple shots. Detectives later reported finding evidence related to the incident inside her vehicle.
No injuries or property damage were reported in connection with the gunfire.
Morales was taken to a local hospital for unrelated, non life threatening injuries before being charged with felony firearm and other related offenses, according to state police.
She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on $23,000 cash bond.
The charges are allegations, and Morales is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
