Montgomery County, OH – Commuters in Montgomery County should prepare for significant traffic changes on Interstate 75 North beginning this Thursday, September 10, 2026. The Ohio Department of Transportation ODOT Dayton District 7 announced that construction crews will start preparing to shift two travel lanes to the right, or exterior, side of the roadway.
According to ODOT officials, the operation is scheduled to commence at 9:00 p.m. on September 10. During the overnight construction hours, traffic will be maintained through a contraflow system. Motorists should be aware that ramps from SR 4 and SR 48, also known as Main Street, will face temporary closures. Additionally, entrance and exit ramps along I 75 North at Wagner Ford Road, Stanley Avenue, and Needmore Road will be inaccessible to allow crews to safely complete the traffic shift.
The department expects travel lanes to reopen during the early morning hours of Friday, September 11, at which point the Stanley Avenue ramp on I 75 North will be accessible again. Officials are tentatively planning to permanently close the contraflow lane on the night of Sunday, September 13, at which time I 75 North is expected to return to three lanes on the proper side of the road. Both directions of travel will remain pushed to the exterior side while crews work on median walls and drainage systems.
The current traffic pattern is slated to remain in place until early November 2026. Motorists are advised that these timelines are subject to weather conditions. Furthermore, the ramp from Wagner Ford Road to I 75 South will remain closed for the duration of the project, with a reopening expected in late Fall 2026. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead for potential delays during the construction period.
