Monroe County, GA – A traffic stop in Monroe County, north of the Macon area, led to the seizure of suspected drugs, a heavy lift drone, 29 cellphones and other items authorities say are commonly associated with “prison drops.”
According to the Monroe County Sheriff ’s Office, deputies stopped a Dodge Caravan at approximately 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026. A deputy allegedly detected the odor of marijuana while approaching the vehicle, prompting a search.
Authorities said the search uncovered approximately 2.3 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and 10.3 pounds of suspected marijuana. Deputies also reported finding about 12 grams of suspected fentanyl pills and approximately 325 grams of suspected marijuana wax.
Other items allegedly recovered included a heavy lift wing drone, four 18 inch machetes, a large folding knife, a knife sharpener, two 12 inch hacksaw blades and two cans of high potency OC spray.
Investigators also reported finding 29 cellphones and chargers, speakers, lighters and other miscellaneous items. The sheriff’s office said the combination was consistent with items commonly associated with deliveries into correctional facilities, sometimes referred to as “prison drops.”
The driver, identified by authorities as Jalen Jones of Loganville, Georgia, was arrested.
The sheriff’s office said Jones faces charges including trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana wax, possession with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana and possession of tools with intent to commit a crime.
Jones was being held in the Monroe County Jail without bond at the time of the sheriff’s office announcement.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
