Grand Junction, CO – A 41 year old woman is facing burglary and theft charges after deputies investigating a trespass complaint allegedly found her with cut copper piping and tools near a vacant building in Mesa County.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff ’s Office , deputies responded around 9:40 a.m. Sunday to a building in the 2800 block of Riverside Park Drive in Grand Junction after a trespass in progress was reported.
The reporting party told deputies someone might be living inside the vacant property and allegedly storing stolen items there.
Deputies searched the surrounding area and located a woman matching the suspect description in the 2700 block of Riverside Parkway.
Authorities identified her as Angela Williams, 41, of Grand Junction .
The sheriff’s office alleges Williams was in possession of multiple sections of cut copper piping along with tools that could be used to access and cut the piping.
Deputies also located additional sections of pipe that had allegedly been cut and left behind on the original property, according to the release.
Williams was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility .
She faces a felony charge of second degree burglary of a building, along with misdemeanor charges of theft involving an alleged value between $300 and $1,000 and possession of burglary tools.
The sheriff’s office did not release an estimated total value for the recovered copper beyond the theft charge range or provide additional information about how long the property may have been entered.
No further information was available Tuesday.
