Medford, Oregon – Rain spreads into southern Oregon Thursday afternoon, with coastal areas receiving more than a half inch while Medford gets much less.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, scattered showers will continue through Friday evening, producing rainfall totals over roughly 36 to 48 hours. Western areas will receive the most rain, while locations farther east will largely miss significant precipitation.
The coast and Coast Range are expected to be the wettest. The Weather Service projects about 0.72 inch near North Bend, 0.69 inch north of Reedsport, 0.62 inch near Bandon and 0.59 inch around Port Orford. Gold Beach could receive about 0.53 inch, with 0.56 inch near Brookings.
Rainfall drops sharply farther inland. Roseburg is projected to receive about 0.51 inch, while Grants Pass could get 0.23 inch. The map shows only about 0.05 inch in Medford and roughly 0.01 inch near Siskiyou Summit.
East of the Cascades, totals become even smaller. About 0.06 inch is projected near Chemult, 0.04 inch around Crater Lake and 0.02 inch near Klamath Falls. Lakeview and several locations farther east and south are shown with no measurable accumulation.
The Weather Service also expects breezy conditions Thursday and Friday, with somewhat stronger breezes Friday. Travelers should be prepared for wet pavement and changing conditions, particularly on routes through western Oregon and along the coast.
Showers will remain scattered, so individual locations could vary from the mapped totals. The main period for rainfall runs from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening, with western southern Oregon receiving the most substantial amounts.
