Charles County, MD – Nearly three decades after Elizabeth Sloane was found dead near the Charles County Fairgrounds, investigators are renewing their call for information that could identify her killer.
According to the Charles County Sheriff 's Office, officers responded to a field near the fairgrounds at approximately 6 p.m. Oct. 6, 1997. When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased woman wrapped in a blanket.
Authorities identified the woman as Sloane, a 33 year old resident of Capitol Heights, Maryland. Her body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where her death was ruled a homicide.
Now, 29 years after Sloane was found, investigators are again highlighting the unsolved case through the sheriff's office's "Pursuit of Justice" cold case initiative.
Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect in the homicide, and investigators say they continue to pursue leads in an effort to determine who killed Sloane.
Charles County Crime Solvers and the Charles County Sheriff's Office are offering a combined cash reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect or suspects.
