Rutland Township, IL A Hampshire man died Sunday afternoon following a single vehicle crash on U.S. Route 20 near Illinois Route 47. Deputies from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 3:45 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of his vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a fixed object. First responders attempted life saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Authorities closed a portion of U.S. Route 20 for several hours while investigators reconstructed the crash scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the local coroner’s office.
