Shreveport, LA – Residents across northern Louisiana, eastern Texas and southern Arkansas should prepare for possible strong thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 3, as a weather system brings the threat of gusty winds to the ArkLaTex region. Some storms could become severe, although the overall risk remains relatively low.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, portions of the three state region are under a Level 1 out of 5 marginal risk for severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon, with potentially damaging wind gusts representing the primary concern.
Strong Thunderstorms Possible Tuesday Afternoon The severe weather outlook includes communities around Shreveport, Louisiana; Longview and Tyler, Texas; and Texarkana and El Dorado, Arkansas.
Other locations within the broader thunderstorm outlook include Nacogdoches, Texas; Natchitoches and Monroe, Louisiana; and Hope, Arkansas.
Forecasters indicate that wind gusts will be the primary hazard associated with Tuesday's thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service graphic highlights a damaging wind threat generally below 60 mph, although individual storms could produce locally stronger conditions.
The tornado threat is rated very low, while the large hail threat is also limited, with hail generally expected to remain around penny size or smaller.
Residents Urged to Monitor Weather Alerts Although the severe weather risk is classified as marginal, isolated strong or severe thunderstorms remain possible.
Residents traveling along Interstate 20, Interstate 49 and Interstate 30 should remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions Tuesday afternoon.
Strong wind gusts could make driving more difficult, particularly for high profile vehicles, while thunderstorms may produce periods of reduced visibility.
The National Weather Service recommends having multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings, monitoring updated forecasts and reviewing household severe weather safety plans.
Storm timing and threat levels may change as Tuesday approaches.
