Critical Fire Danger Fires could spread out of control within minutes across southeast Nebraska this afternoon as powerful winds and dry air peak before 10PM tonight. Residents in Seward, Lancaster, Otoe, and Saline counties are urged to exercise extreme caution as conditions for rapid fire growth are at a critical high.
Precautions for Residents Local authorities and weather centers advise against any outdoor burning, including campfires, trash burning, or the use of heavy machinery that could produce sparks. Dry vegetation from the winter season combined with high wind speeds creates an environment where a small flame can escalate into a significant wildfire quickly.
