LARIMER COUNTY, CO – A high speed pursuit along Interstate 25 in northern Colorado ended with a vehicle crashing into a guardrail and two men being arrested after the driver allegedly reached speeds exceeding 100 mph Thursday night.
According to the Larimer County Sheriff 's Office, deputies located a vehicle shortly before midnight Thursday, Oct. 8, that had reportedly eluded Fort Collins police officers a short time earlier.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver allegedly refused to pull over and continued southbound on I 25 at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
Authorities said the driver recklessly attempted to pass another vehicle before losing control and crashing into a guardrail near the Highway 60 exit.
Despite the dangerous speeds and collision, no injuries were reported.
Following the crash, deputies conducted what authorities described as a high risk traffic stop and safely took the male driver and a male passenger into custody.
During the investigation, deputies also recovered a loaded handgun from the vehicle.
The driver was arrested on allegations of eluding law enforcement, traffic violations, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment.
A second male passenger was arrested on an allegation of prohibited use of weapons.
Both individuals were transported to the Larimer County Jail following their arrests.
The sheriff's office did not release the suspects' names, ages or hometowns in its initial announcement.
The incident unfolded along a heavily traveled section of I 25 connecting Fort Collins and communities throughout northern Colorado.
Authorities did not report any continuing highway closures or traffic restrictions following the crash.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office emphasized the dangers of reckless driving and said deputies remain committed to holding dangerous drivers accountable.
Additional information about court appearances or formal charges was not immediately available.
Both suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
