According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the crash shortly after 5 p.m. Friday, October 9, at 11400 Outlets Drive, in the greater Knoxville area.
Authorities confirmed that the collision involved a motorcycle and another vehicle. The motorcycle rider was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for emergency medical treatment.
Despite those efforts, the rider was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit, also known as Tango, responded to the scene and was actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision Friday evening.
Investigators have not publicly identified the deceased motorcyclist in the initial announcement.
Officials also have not released information about the driver of the second vehicle, whether anyone else suffered injuries or what may have caused the crash.
The incident occurred along Outlets Drive, a roadway serving a commercial area in Knox County. Motorists traveling through the immediate area Friday evening should remain alert for emergency personnel and any traffic restrictions associated with the investigation.
