Kent County, MI – Four stolen vehicles were recovered and two juveniles were detained after deputies responded to a vehicle theft and encountered multiple stolen vehicles fleeing the area, according to authorities.
According to the Kent County Sheriff 's Office, deputies responded after a caller reported a vehicle being stolen from a driveway. Authorities said deputies arrived within minutes and before the alleged thieves could leave the neighborhood.
Four stolen vehicles then fled from law enforcement, the sheriff's office said. Deputies deployed a spike strip during the response, flattening the tires on three of the vehicles.
Authorities ultimately recovered all four stolen vehicles.
One suspect was located inside a vehicle that had crashed, while another suspect ended up in the Grand River and had to be rescued by boat, according to the sheriff's office.
Both suspects were identified as juveniles. After receiving treatment at a local hospital, they were taken to juvenile detention, authorities said.
The sheriff's office said other suspects of unknown ages are still being investigated, meaning additional developments could follow.
Several law enforcement and fire rescue agencies assisted during the response. Authorities did not immediately provide details about injuries, where the vehicles were originally stolen or what charges the detained juveniles could face.
Anyone with information about the stolen vehicle investigation is asked to contact the Kent County Sheriff's Office Investigative Unit.
The allegations involving the detained juveniles have not been proven in court.
