Clendenin, WV – Authorities are searching for a 42 year old man accused of stabbing three people near Clendenin on Wednesday, prompting a search involving a police K9 and a West Virginia State Police helicopter.
According to the Kanawha County Sheriff 's Office, Metro 911 received a report around 12:41 p.m. Wednesday that a woman had been stabbed in the 2600 block of Dutch Ridge Road. A responding deputy learned that two additional people had also been stabbed.
All three victims were transported by Kanawha County EMS to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities did not disclose their conditions in the release.
Investigators identified the suspect as Kelcey Nicholas, 42, of Clay County. According to an account provided by one of the victims, Nicholas and the three victims were traveling in a pickup truck on Dutch Ridge Road when an altercation allegedly occurred.
The sheriff's office alleges Nicholas began choking his girlfriend while the two were riding in the truck bed. After the vehicle stopped, Nicholas allegedly stabbed a male victim before stabbing his girlfriend and another woman seated in the driver's seat.
Authorities said Nicholas then fled on foot. Deputies established a perimeter, deployed a K9 and received helicopter assistance from West Virginia State Police during the search.
An arrest warrant has been obtained for Nicholas on three counts of malicious wounding. The allegations have not been proven in court.
