JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO – Drivers traveling along U.S. Highway 67 in Jefferson County are facing a temporary traffic pattern change as construction crews continue work near Route CC. The lane shift is expected to remain in place through October, affecting motorists traveling through the area south of St. Louis.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation MoDOT , crews have begun shifting one lane of US 67 onto the newly constructed highway alignment beneath Route CC as part of ongoing improvements to the interchange.
What Drivers Should Expect
The new traffic configuration allows one northbound lane and one southbound lane to travel beneath Route CC while construction continues.
Meanwhile, the ramps currently carrying US 67 traffic around the new Route CC bridge have been reduced from two lanes to one.
Motorists traveling through the construction zone should watch for changing traffic patterns, reduced lane availability and potential slowdowns, particularly during busy commuting periods.
The restrictions are expected to continue throughout October as crews complete additional work on the highway and bridge.
Route CC Bridge Opening Expected in November
Once construction on US 67 and the Route CC bridge is completed, the highway is expected to accommodate two northbound lanes and two southbound lanes beneath Route CC.
The existing ramps will then serve their intended purpose of providing access to Route CC rather than carrying through traffic.
MoDOT has indicated that the Route CC bridge is scheduled to open in early November, marking another major step toward completing the project.
Drivers in Jefferson County and the greater St. Louis region are encouraged to remain alert, follow posted construction signs and allow additional travel time when passing through the affected area.
