SPRINGFIELD The Illinois Commerce Commission ICC is announcing the addition of a 464 area code to south suburban counties presently served by the 708 area code. The new area code will serve the same geographic area as the current 708 area code.
What this means for you Existing customers in the 708 area code will retain their current numbers. The addition of the 464 area code will only affect new telephone number assignments. Customers in the 708 area code should continue to dial the area code for all calls, as the region remains subject to 10 digit dialing.
