Greenville County, SC – A 22 year old man has been arrested on a murder charge after a deadly shooting Friday at a Greenville County residence, authorities announced.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff ’s Office, Homicide Division investigators arrested Chance Xavier May following a death investigation at 24 Chapman Lane on Friday, Oct. 2.
Investigators allege May and the victim were roommates and became involved in a verbal altercation before the shooting.
During that dispute, May allegedly drew a firearm and shot the victim at least once, resulting in the victim’s death, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities did not identify the victim in the information released Friday. Additional details about what allegedly led to the dispute also were not immediately provided.
May was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, the sheriff’s office said.
Following his arrest, May was transported to the Greenville County Detention Center, where authorities said he was awaiting a bond hearing.
The sheriff’s office announced the arrest shortly after investigators began looking into the death Friday. No additional suspects were identified in the information provided.
The charges against May are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
