GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI – A 27 year old Traverse City man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly threatening two older relatives with a firearm and firing multiple shots inside a Long Lake Township residence during a domestic dispute.
According to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff 's Office, deputies and Michigan State Police personnel responded to a residence in Long Lake Township at approximately 10:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, following reports of a man threatening family members with a gun.
Investigators said the 27 year old man lived at the residence with two relatives, a 71 year old woman and a 69 year old man.
Authorities allege an argument developed between the man and his relatives before he threatened them with a firearm.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly discharged the weapon multiple times inside the home.
He then fled the residence before responding officers arrived.
Deputies quickly located the suspect driving a vehicle in nearby East Bay Township and took him into custody without further reported incident.
Authorities said the man was transported to Munson Medical Center for medical clearance related to an injury he had sustained in a motorcycle crash several days earlier.
Following his release from the hospital, he was transported to the Grand Traverse County Jail.
The suspect was lodged on allegations of two counts of felonious assault, felony firearm, discharging a firearm inside a dwelling and domestic violence.
Despite the reported threats and multiple gunshots, the sheriff's office confirmed that no one was injured during Friday's incident.
Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or disclosed what led to the argument.
The incident involved law enforcement personnel from both the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police.
