Tallahassee, Florida – Fall begins Tuesday night, but Tallahassee reaches 91 degrees as isolated to scattered afternoon showers and storms develop across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, summerlike temperatures will continue Tuesday across the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia even as the autumnal equinox arrives Tuesday night.
Tallahassee has a high of 91 degrees with a 15% rain chance. Panama City also reaches 91 with a 30% chance of rain, while Apalachicola tops out at 85 with a 30% chance.
Farther inland, DeFuniak Springs and Cross City reach 91, each with a 20% rain chance. The warm conditions extend north into Georgia and Alabama. Dothan, Alabama, reaches 92 with a 20% rain chance, while Bainbridge, Georgia, reaches 92 with a 15% chance.
Albany and Valdosta, Georgia, both reach 92 with rain chances of just 5%. Tifton reaches 91 with a 5% chance.
The National Weather Service expects isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Residents with outdoor plans should remain alert for changing conditions where storms develop.
Tuesday also marks the transition from astronomical summer to fall in the Northern Hemisphere. Meteorological fall, which divides the seasons into three month periods for climate records, began at the start of September.
Despite the seasonal milestone, temperatures across the Tallahassee service area will remain firmly summerlike Tuesday. The most immediate weather concern is the potential for scattered afternoon storms, particularly across parts of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend.
