Elmira Man Arrested on Fugitive Warrant

Elmira, NY – A 48-year-old Elmira resident was taken into custody on August 31, 2026, following a series of legal actions involving warrants from both New York and Pennsylvania.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, Shaun M. Rychel was initially arrested on August 31, 2026, on an active warrant issued by the Chemung County Family Court. Following the initial arrest, authorities processed Rychel as a fugitive from justice due to an additional outstanding warrant originating from Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Rychel is currently being held at the Chemung County Jail. He allegedly faces charges as a fugitive while authorities coordinate the next steps in the legal process.
