Sisters, OR – A 31 year old Sisters man faces multiple charges after allegedly forcing his way into an apartment and assaulting a woman and two juveniles Sunday night, authorities said.
According to the Deschutes County Sheriff 's Office, deputies responded at approximately 10:01 p.m. Sunday to a disturbance at an apartment on North Woodson Street in Sisters. Dispatchers reported hearing children screaming during the call.
When deputies arrived, they found an adult woman and two juveniles who had suffered injuries, authorities said.
Investigators allege Royce Shipley, 31, entered the apartment without permission and immediately began assaulting people inside, including the woman and two juveniles, before leaving the area.
Deputies received information indicating Shipley might be armed and believed he had returned to his nearby residence. The Central Oregon Emergency Response Team was consulted, while a sheriff's K 9 unit was deployed to assist.
Authorities established a perimeter around Shipley's apartment and issued repeated loudspeaker commands. After approximately 10 minutes of communication, Shipley came outside and surrendered without incident, according to the sheriff's office.
Shipley was booked into the Deschutes County Adult Jail on allegations including first degree burglary, strangulation, fourth degree assault, harassment, menacing and interfering with making a report.
The victims were evaluated by Sisters Camp Sherman Fire District medics and later transported to St. Charles Bend for further medical examination.
Authorities did not provide additional information about the victims' conditions.
The charges against Shipley are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
