Dallas, Texas – Dallas Fort Worth residents are heading into Friday evening with 100 degree heat and a 58 day stretch without measurable rainfall, pushing two summer weather streaks further into the record books.
According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth, DFW reached 100 degrees by 3:45 p.m. Friday. That brings 2026 to 47 days with temperatures at or above 100 degrees, tied with 2022 for the seventh highest total on record.
The lack of rain is even more unusual. DFW has gone 58 consecutive days without measurable precipitation of at least 0.01 inches. The streak, which began July 16, is now tied for third longest on record with stretches in 1950 and 1934.
Only two dry spells have lasted longer. DFW went 67 days without measurable rain in 2022, while the record stands at 84 days from July through September 2000.
The prolonged heat and absence of meaningful rainfall can quickly dry lawns, vegetation and exposed soil across Dallas, Fort Worth and surrounding North Texas communities. Residents should continue limiting strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, stay hydrated and follow any local watering or fire restrictions.
Friday& 39;s milestone puts DFW just one additional 100 degree day away from tying 1956 for sixth place on the all time list. The dry streak will also continue climbing the historical rankings until measurable rain returns.
