Binghamton, New York – Highs in the 60s Wednesday will give way to a cool, mostly clear night, with patchy frost possible north of the city.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, temperatures will remain seasonable Wednesday before falling sharply overnight. Patchy frost is most likely in northern Oneida County, while frost cannot be ruled out in sheltered valleys of Otsego and Delaware counties.
Boonville is expected to reach 66 degrees Wednesday before dropping to 36 overnight, the lowest temperature shown across the area. Utica is expected to fall from 68 to 41 degrees, while Cooperstown drops from 63 to 40.
Farther south, Binghamton is expected to reach 68 degrees before cooling to 42 overnight. Norwich falls to 39 degrees, Delhi to 38 and Montrose, Pennsylvania, to 38. Syracuse is expected to reach 67 degrees Wednesday before dropping to 43.
The coolest conditions will favor rural and sheltered locations, particularly across northern Oneida County. Residents with sensitive outdoor plants in those areas should monitor temperatures Wednesday night and consider protecting vegetation where frost develops.
No widespread freezing temperatures are indicated in the Weather Service information. Most communities shown on the agency's map remain in the upper 30s to lower 40s overnight.
The main change comes after sunset Wednesday as mostly clear conditions allow temperatures to fall. Northern Oneida County faces the clearest frost potential, while sheltered valleys in Otsego and Delaware counties could also see isolated frost by Thursday morning.
