Logansport, IN – Job seekers interested in law enforcement have less than a week to apply for a merit deputy position with the Cass County Sheriff ’s Office, where starting pay is listed at $65,961 for 2026.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, applications will be accepted through noon Friday, Oct. 9. Written and physical agility testing is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10.
The sheriff’s office said deputies receive a take home vehicle with off duty use, a vested pension after eight years of service, leave benefits, a uniform allowance and access to the Cass County Employer Clinic.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and at least 21 years old when appointed. Candidates also need a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Indiana driver’s license and corrected vision of at least 20/30 in each eye.
The selection process may include a background investigation, polygraph examination, written aptitude test, physical agility testing and an interview with the Sheriff’s Office Merit Board.
Successful applicants may also be required to attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and complete a one year probationary period.
“This is an excellent opportunity to serve the citizens of Cass County as a professional law enforcement officer alongside the fine men and women of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Edward Schroder said in the announcement.

Cass County includes Logansport and is located in north central Indiana.
