Blount County, TN – A Maryville man is being held on bonds totaling more than $1 million after investigators arrested him on multiple charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a child, authorities announced.
According to the Blount County Sheriff ’s Office, investigators took 63 year old Timothy B. Wheeler of Maryville into custody Friday, Oct. 2, following an investigation that began in September.
Wheeler is charged with rape of a child, continuous sexual abuse of a child and incest, according to the sheriff’s office. He also faces four counts of aggravated sexual battery.
Investigators allege Wheeler sexually abused a juvenile female family member multiple times. Authorities said the alleged abuse began when the child was 6 years old and continued until she was 11.
The sheriff’s office said investigators opened the case in September after receiving information about the alleged abuse. Authorities did not release additional information about the juvenile.
Wheeler was booked into the Blount County Correctional Facility, where the sheriff’s office said he remained in custody on bonds totaling $1.05 million pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
A court date had not been scheduled when the sheriff’s office announced the arrest.
Investigators said the case remains active and additional charges could be forthcoming.
The charges and allegations against Wheeler are accusations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
