ArkLaTex Front Brings Slight Relief North of I-30

Shreveport, Louisiana – Temperatures near 97 degrees will persist Tuesday as a weak front moves through the ArkLaTex, with isolated storms mainly south of I 20.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the front will continue shifting south Tuesday, bringing slightly lower temperatures to areas along and north of Interstate 30. Its progress will slow farther south before it clears the region by Tuesday night.
Heat remains widespread despite the front. Shreveport, Longview, Center, Lufkin and Hemphill are expected to reach 97 degrees. Natchitoches could reach 98, while Tyler and Rusk top out near 95.
Farther north, afternoon temperatures are slightly lower. Broken Bow is expected to reach 95, Texarkana 95 and Hope 93.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible along and ahead of the front, mainly south of Interstate 20. Rain chances shown by the Weather Service generally range from the teens to around 30% across southern portions of the region.
Shreveport has about a 22% rain chance, while probabilities are around 30% near Tyler, 28% near Rusk and 29% near Lufkin. Farther north, much of the region has little or no rain indicated.
Anyone working or spending extended time outdoors should account for the continued mid to upper 90s heat. Drivers could encounter brief wet roads or reduced visibility beneath isolated storms south of I 20.
The front is expected to clear the region by Tuesday night. Until then, heat will remain the primary widespread weather concern, while isolated thunderstorms stay concentrated across southern portions of the ArkLaTex.
