Little Rock, Arkansas – Fall begins Tuesday, but summer heat holds across Arkansas with Little Rock near 89 degrees and southern communities reaching the mid 90s.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, Tuesday highs will climb into the 80s and 90s across the state before temperatures fall into the upper 50s to lower 70s overnight.
The hottest conditions will be concentrated across southern Arkansas. El Dorado could reach 96 degrees, while Texarkana reaches about 95. De Queen and Monticello could hit 93, with Pine Bluff near 91.
Central Arkansas will also remain hot for the first day of astronomical fall. Little Rock is expected to reach about 89 degrees, while Hot Springs reaches 89 and Searcy climbs to around 89. Brinkley could reach 92.
Northern Arkansas will be noticeably cooler. Fayetteville and Harrison are expected to reach about 82 degrees, with Mountain View around 84.
A much larger temperature spread develops Tuesday night. Little Rock falls to about 66 degrees, while Harrison drops to around 60 and Hardy reaches 59. Fayetteville could reach 62.
Southern Arkansas remains milder overnight. Texarkana is expected to fall to about 71 degrees, while El Dorado reaches 69 and Monticello 68.
For residents spending time outdoors Tuesday, the first day of fall will offer little immediate relief from summerlike afternoon temperatures, particularly across southern Arkansas. Cooler conditions become much more noticeable after sunset, with much of the state dropping into the 60s and parts of northern Arkansas reaching the upper 50s by Wednesday morning.
