A Maryland State Police helicopter crew rescued an injured person Saturday afternoon after a fall from a tree stand in Greenridge State Forest. The rescue occurred in a remote area of the forest located near Flintstone in Allegany County. According to police, ground units were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a hunter who had fallen from a tree stand.
Given the difficult terrain and the severity of the injuries sustained, the Maryland State Police Aviation Command was requested to assist with the extraction. The helicopter, Trooper 5, arrived on the scene and deployed a tactical flight officer to the ground.
The patient was stabilized by EMS personnel on the scene and then hoisted into the aircraft. The individual was subsequently airlifted to a regional trauma center for medical treatment.
