Little Rock, AR – Wildfire danger remains high across most of Arkansas this weekend, with widespread burn bans restricting outdoor burning across southern, central and portions of northern Arkansas as officials warn residents about the potential for fires to spread.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, an updated wildfire danger and burn ban map released Saturday, Oct. 24, shows high fire danger across much of the state, with moderate conditions limited primarily to portions of northwestern Arkansas.
All of southern Arkansas, most of central Arkansas and parts of northern Arkansas remain under active burn bans.
The latest maps show numerous counties across the state shaded in orange for high wildfire danger, while counties with active burn bans are highlighted in dark red.
Central and Southern Arkansas Face Widespread Restrictions
The burn ban map identifies restrictions across several populated areas, including Pulaski, Saline, Garland, Jefferson, Faulkner and surrounding counties.
Additional restrictions extend across much of southern Arkansas, including counties near El Dorado, Camden and Texarkana.
Although northwestern Arkansas currently shows moderate wildfire danger in several counties, conditions remain elevated elsewhere across the state.
Residents Urged to Check Local Burn Bans
Burn bans are intended to reduce the risk of outdoor fires escaping control during periods of heightened wildfire danger.
Residents should verify current county restrictions before burning brush, debris or other materials outdoors.
Dry vegetation and combustible materials can allow fires to spread, potentially threatening nearby homes, wooded areas and property.
Anyone who encounters an uncontrolled wildfire should move to safety and notify emergency services.
The National Weather Service continues to monitor wildfire conditions across Arkansas as the final week of October approaches.
Residents can review the latest weather information at weather.gov/lzk and check with county officials or the Arkansas Department of Agriculture's Forestry Division for current burn ban information.
