Eudora, AR – Arkansas State Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Eudora after a 65 year old woman was found suffering from multiple stab wounds Tuesday afternoon and later died at a hospital.
According to Arkansas State Police, Eudora Police Department officers responded around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at the Chicot Apartments office in the 600 block of Compress Street.
Officers arrived and found Debra Cooper, 65, lying on a sidewalk with multiple stab wounds, state police said. Emergency medical personnel transported Cooper to Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village, where she died from her injuries.
Eudora police took 40 year old Caleb Johnson into custody at the scene. Authorities identified Johnson as the suspect but did not announce specific criminal charges in the Wednesday release. Any allegations against him have not been proven in court.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the homicide at the request of the Eudora Police Department.
Cooper's body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where an autopsy is expected to determine the official cause and manner of death.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed what allegedly led to the stabbing or described any relationship between Cooper and Johnson.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Arkansas State Police said no further details were available for release Wednesday.
