Phoenix, AZ – A significant change in weather is approaching south central Arizona, with rain chances climbing to 90% in the Phoenix metropolitan area Friday, Oct. 30, before another round of widespread showers arrives Sunday, Nov. 1.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, two periods of unsettled weather are expected through the weekend, bringing showers, embedded thunderstorms, gusty winds and a noticeable drop in afternoon temperatures.
Phoenix Rain Chances Reach 90% Friday The latest NWS forecast shows a 90% probability of precipitation across the Phoenix metro Friday, with cloudy skies, showers and thunderstorms possible.
Afternoon temperatures are expected to fall from approximately 85 87 degrees Wednesday and Thursday to 73 76 degrees Friday.
The Globe and Miami areas also face elevated rain chances Friday, with an 80% probability of precipitation and highs between 67 and 71 degrees.
Rainfall is expected to be concentrated across south central Arizona Friday morning through Friday evening.
Saturday Brings a Brief Break A temporary lull in widespread rainfall is expected Saturday, Oct. 31, with mostly cloudy skies and highs between 75 and 78 degrees in Phoenix.
However, conditions turn wetter again Saturday night into Sunday as another round of rainfall expands across the region.
Sunday's forecast calls for a 90% chance of rain in Phoenix and Globe/Miami, while Yuma and California's Imperial Valley have approximately 50% chances of showers.
Cooler Temperatures and Wet Roads By Sunday, Phoenix highs could fall to 68 72 degrees, roughly 15 19 degrees below Wednesday's forecast highs.
The NWS warns that thunderstorms could produce gusty winds and water accumulation on roads, potentially affecting weekend travel.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts, particularly if planning outdoor activities or traveling through areas prone to water collecting on roadways.
