Phoenix, AZ Residents in Maricopa County should take precautions as air quality advisories remain in effect through midweek. A PM 10 and PM 2.5 High Pollution Advisory is currently in effect, and officials are urging individuals to limit their outdoor activities.
Air quality monitors have indicated elevated levels of particulate matter due to stagnant atmospheric conditions, which are preventing the dispersal of pollutants. Residents, especially those with pre existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD , as well as children and the elderly, are advised to stay indoors or keep physical activity to a minimum.
The advisory is expected to continue through the middle of the week, pending a change in weather patterns that would bring stronger winds to clear the air.
