Huntsville, AL – Residents across northern Alabama and the Tennessee Valley should prepare for chilly overnight temperatures this weekend, with some communities potentially dropping to the freezing mark as patchy frost develops Sunday and Monday mornings.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, a cool, dry air mass will remain across the Tennessee Valley through Tuesday, Nov. 10, bringing mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, limited rainfall chances and afternoon temperatures generally in the 60s.
The coldest mornings arrive Sunday and Monday.
Forecasters expect Friday, Nov. 6, to remain partly cloudy, with afternoon highs ranging from 65 to 69 degrees before overnight temperatures fall between 36 and 40 degrees.
Saturday brings slightly cooler conditions, with highs between 59 and 63 degrees and overnight lows dropping into the 32 to 36 degree range.
Those temperatures could support patchy frost early Sunday morning, particularly in colder locations where skies remain clear and winds are light.
Communities across the Huntsville metropolitan area, including Madison, Decatur, Athens, Scottsboro and surrounding portions of northern Alabama, should monitor local temperature forecasts.
Another frosty morning is possible Monday.
Sunday afternoon will feature sunshine and highs between 62 and 66 degrees before temperatures again fall into the lower and middle 30s overnight.
The National Weather Service indicates patchy frost may develop Monday morning as well.
Residents with sensitive outdoor plants should consider protective measures, especially in locations where temperatures approach 32 degrees.
Despite the chilly mornings, the region will experience a noticeable daytime warmup.
Monday afternoon highs are expected to reach 67 to 71 degrees, with similar temperatures continuing Tuesday.
Overnight lows should gradually moderate into the upper 30s and lower 40s early next week.
Forecasters expect little to no rainfall through Tuesday, providing several days of generally favorable outdoor conditions.
