Huntsville, AL – Residents across northern Alabama are facing a significant October warmup this week, with temperatures potentially climbing into the lower 90s by Wednesday after a cooler Sunday featuring scattered morning rain chances.
According to the National Weather Service NWS in Huntsville, its 6 a.m. forecast update Sunday, October 11, calls for a 20% to 40% chance of rain during the morning before a stretch of sunny, increasingly warm weather develops Monday through Wednesday.
Sunday Rain Gives Way to Sunshine
Sunday's afternoon highs are expected to range from 71 to 80 degrees across the Huntsville forecast area, with overnight lows between 50 and 58 degrees.
Rain chances are primarily concentrated during the morning hours, with improving conditions expected afterward.
By Monday, October 12, temperatures will climb noticeably, with highs forecast between 83 and 88 degrees under sunny skies.
No rain is currently expected Monday, and overnight temperatures should remain between 54 and 60 degrees.
Temperatures Approach 90 Degrees Tuesday
The warming trend continues Tuesday, October 13, with another sunny afternoon and highs ranging from 85 to 89 degrees.
Tuesday night's lows are expected to range from 57 to 62 degrees.
Wednesday Could Reach 91 Degrees
The warmest conditions are forecast for Wednesday, October 14, when afternoon temperatures could reach between 87 and 91 degrees.
That represents a potential regional temperature difference of more than 10 degrees compared with Sunday's highs, depending on location.
Wednesday is also expected to remain sunny, with no rainfall indicated in the current forecast.
What Residents Should Expect
The extended stretch of sunshine and increasing temperatures could make outdoor conditions feel more like late summer than mid October.
Residents planning outdoor work, recreation or other afternoon activities should prepare for warmer conditions and remain hydrated.
The forecast covers northern Alabama, including the Huntsville metropolitan area, and nearby portions of southern Middle Tennessee.
Temperatures will vary by community, and not every location is expected to reach 91 degrees.
Residents should monitor updated National Weather Service forecasts as the warming trend continues.
