Huntsville, AL – A stretch of dry, increasingly warm weather is expected across northern Alabama and southern Middle Tennessee this week, with afternoon temperatures potentially reaching 90 degrees by Wednesday and Thursday. Residents can expect several days of sunshine as rain remains absent from the immediate forecast.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, its Monday, October 12, morning forecast calls for completely dry conditions across the region through Thursday, October 15, accompanied by a steady warming trend.
The forecast includes communities across the Huntsville metropolitan area, Madison County, Limestone County, Morgan County and surrounding portions of the Tennessee Valley.
Temperatures Climb Toward 90 Degrees
Monday afternoon temperatures are expected to reach between 82 and 86 degrees, with overnight lows ranging from 55 to 60 degrees.
By Tuesday, October 13, highs are forecast to climb into the 84 to 89 degree range, while overnight temperatures remain relatively mild between 56 and 61 degrees.
Wednesday brings another increase, with afternoon highs expected between 86 and 90 degrees.
Similar temperatures are forecast Thursday, when highs could again reach 86 to 90 degrees across the region.
Dry Conditions Continue Across Tennessee Valley
The National Weather Service expects plenty of sunshine throughout the four day period, with no rainfall indicated in its latest regional forecast.
The prolonged dry stretch could provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities, construction projects and travel.
However, the absence of rainfall may also be a concern for residents managing dry lawns, gardens and other vegetation.
What About the Extended Outlook?
NOAA's Climate Prediction Center favors above normal precipitation across portions of the Gulf Coast and Southeast during October 17 21, although northern Alabama lies closer to the transition toward near normal precipitation probabilities.
That longer range outlook does not guarantee rain at any particular location.
Residents across northern Alabama and southern Middle Tennessee should continue monitoring updated forecasts for possible changes heading into the weekend.
For now, sunshine and temperatures approaching 90 degrees remain the primary weather story through Thursday.
